Nagpur, June 8

The pre-monsoon showers accompanied by strong winds on Tuesday afternoon again failed the city’s electricity distribution system. About 8,500 customers lost their electricity for hours. On the other hand, Mahavitaran claims that huge efforts were made to restore the supply.

Mahavitaran is patting its back that it has succeeded in restoring supply in many areas. But what about those customers who were forced to stay in the dark till late night. Mahavitaran says that its workers were engaged at work to restore power.

It is noteworthy that Mahavitaran makes power cuts for hours on every Wednesday citing maintenance and repairs. The company claims that during this time the branches of trees that came around the power line are also pruned. But even light rain exposes the false claims.

The power supply of areas like Trimurti Nagar, Telecom Nagar, Gopal Nagar etc. was disrupted due to the falling of trees or its twigs on the power line. About four and a half thousand customers of this area were affected. Similarly, trees fell on the line in Jaiprakash Nagar and Gayatri Nagar also. The company claims that the supply was restored at 6 pm. However, if citizens are to be believed, by this time the supply had been restored in only half the area. On the other hand, additional executive engineer of Trimurti Nagar Ramesh Nagdevate, assistant engineer Makarand Fadnavis, Ratnadeep Bagde, Rahul Lalke etc. were busy till night.

Supply was also affected in Navnirman Society and Ekatmata Nagar due to falling of tree branches on the power line. In the government colony of Ravi Nagar, 350 customers lost their electricity due to falling of trees. Additional Executive Engineer Ajay Kolte claims that the supply was restored at 4 pm.

Heavy damage in Butibori, darkness

in many villages of the district

The supply was affected due to rain in many areas of the city as well as the district. According to executive engineer Praful Lande, this has caused heavy damage to the distribution system. There was power outage for hours due to falling of trees on the line near Saigaon- Dongargaon railway line. Moreover, even if there is slight change in weather in Butibori, power failure has become common.

On the other hand, 11 poles of 11 KV Nagardhan plant fell. It became dark in villages like Nagardhan, Nikhat, Nandapuri, Khandala, Nerla, Ajni, Manapur, Bhojapur etc. Till the writing of the news, the work of restoration of supply was going on under the leadership of executive engineer of Mouda, Rupesh Tembhurne.
