'Timely treatment can cure mucormycosis'

"Although the Corona cases are declining in the country to some extent, the people are concerned over new disease namely mucormycosis (black fungus). However, people should not be frightened over it as this disease can be avoided by awareness and early detection of symptoms. One can overcome this disease by appropriate and timely treatment", said Dr Sachin Jambhorkar.

He was speaking during the national seminar on 'Impact of Covid-19 on Mental and Physical Health, Precautions and Remedies' jointly organised by Priydarshini Mahila Mahavidyalaya Wardha, MB Patel Mahavidyalaya Sakoli, NMD College Gondia, Nirdhan Patil Waghaye Mahavidyalaya Gadegaon and Academy of Physical Education.

Dr. Jambhokar further said mucormycosis is a serious but rare fungal infection caused by a group of molds called mucormycosis. These molds live throughout the environment. mucormycosis mainly affects people who have health problems or take medicines that lower the body's ability to fight germs and sickness. One-sided facial swelling, headache, nasal or sinus congestion Black lesions on nasal bridge or upper inside of mouth that quickly become more severe fever are the main symptoms of mucormycosis said Dr Jambhokar .

To save ourselves from this disease one should always wear masks, full tight clothes, shoes. One should also control sugar level and use steroids with the consultation of doctors only said Dr Jambhorkar.

Dr V Kaur of Lovely Professional University presided over the session. Dr Sharda Mahajan of NMD College Gondia made introductory remarks. Director of Department of Sports and Physical Education of RTM Nagpur University Dr Sharad Suryavanshi and president of Academy of Dr Anil Karwande also attended the session.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Kaur said, " One should face the challenges post-Covid bravely. Only after the consultation with doctor one should start the treatment. Vaccination is very important to save ourselves and our famililies. In fact, vaccination is the only option to overcome Corona. It helps the person to increase his or her immunity power. The students should create awareness about vaccination, he said. Dr Pravin Kumar and Dr Sudhir Sahare conducted the proceedings.
