Woman constable beaten up for issuing challan

Two sisters riding on a two-wheeler beat up a woman constable of traffic branch for issuing challan. The incident took place near Sitabuldi police station. The accused are Pallavi Narhari Shelke (32) and Rakshan Narhari Shelke (29), resident of Chandramani Nagar, Ajni.

Traffic branch constable Shewta Tagde was taking action against vehicles flouting traffic rules at Variety Square signal at 6.15pm in the evening. At the dame time, two women riding on a two-wheeler reached there. They had not worn helmet. Seeing this Shweta started to issue challan. The two sisters became angry and started disputing with Shweta. Using abusive language, one of them hit mobile phone on Shweta’s head. Traffic branch officers were present there. They caught hold Pallavi and Rakshana and handed them over to Sitabuldi police. Case has been registered against them under several sections of the IPC and Mumbai Police Act.
