West Bengal Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha on Tuesday said that 29 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state in the past 24 hours taking the total number of active cases to 274.

West Bengal Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha on Tuesday said that 29 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state in the past 24 hours taking the total number of active cases to 274.

"29 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the state in the last 24 hours. The total death toll also soared to 15 after three other coronavirus patients died," Sinha told reporters here.

He said that no other patients have been discharged in the last 24 hours.

"New 29 active cases reported from seven districts across the state including, Kolkata, Howrah, Hoogly, Pashchim Bardhaman, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas," Sinha said.

"Rapid testing has begun in the state. Today 220 rapid tests conducted in Howrah and Kolkata. The results have been sent to the health department. They are looking into it," he added.

Sinha said that so far, 6,182 samples have been tested for coronavirus in the state.
