3-year old boy who fell into 200-feet deep borewell dies in Madhya Pradesh

Prahlad, a three-year-old boy who fell into a 200-feet deep borewell in Madhya Pradesh's Niwari district, has died this morning. According to news agency ANI, Prahlad was declared dead at the hospital after he was brought out from the borewell last night. He had been trapped in the borewell, which was dug by his father, since November 4. He had stopped making movement a day after. Prahlad's father Harikishan had dug a borewell at his farm in Setupurabarah village.

The pit was open and a big iron utensil had been kept to close its mouth. Prahlad was playing near the pit. He had removed the utensil and accidentally fell into the pit on November 4. A rescue operation was then initiated to bring out the boy. His cries could be heard on the first day, but he had stopped moving by November 5. A parallel borewell was dug to reach Prahlad. Teams of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indian Army and local administration had been engaged in the rescue operation. During the operation, oxygen was regularly provided. Last night, rescuers managed to reach Prahlad and took him out from the borewell. He was rushed to a hospital where he has been declared dead.
