The air quality of the capital Delhi was very poor on Friday. It is estimated that on Saturday, the air quality in some areas can reach the critical category. According to the Central Agency, System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) is 388 on Friday, compared to 334 on Thursday.

SAFAR said, "According to estimates AQI will remain in very poor to severe category till Saturday." Safar told that the air quality index of entire Delhi is in a very poor state since Wednesday.

Kuldeep Srivastava, head of the regional forecast center in the meteorological department, said that the drop in mercury and lightening of the wind caused the accumulation of pollutants and high humidity made the situation worse. Senior Scientist in Meteorological Department V.K. Soni said that the wind speed may remain low in the area for the next five days.
