CAA: Chandrashekhar Azad slips away after being caught by Police at Jama Masjid

Protests are still going on in Delhi against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The Bhim Army also came out on the streets to protest at Jama Masjid on Friday against the revised Citizenship Act (CAA) under the leadership of its chief Chandrashekhar Azad. 

However, the police did not allow Chandrashekhar for this march. The protesters holding the tricolor in their hands shouted slogans against the amended citizenship law. The Bhim Army was not allowed to take out a protest march against the CAA from Jama Masjid to Jantar Mantar.

But he tweeted that he would make it to the area anyway, and he did. "Please ignore the rumors of my arrest. I am reaching Jama Masjid," he tweeted.

Azad, 31, read out the preamble to the constitution, the crowd chanting alongside. Protesters inside the mosque complex then spilled over to the road, shouting slogans and wearing black bands.

The Police personnel were seen engaging with religious leaders to try and get the situation within control. When they finally got hold of Azad by his collar, they detained him.

But as the police were about to take him in their vehicle, Azad slipped away and vanished into the crowds.

Section 144, or a ban on large gatherings, was enforced in the Red Fort area yesterday. The restriction was lifted to enable Friday prayers or namaaz at the Jama Masjid.
