Lok Janshakti Party chief Chirag Paswan on Monday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for inquiring about the health of his father, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, who is in the ICU undergoing treatment at a Delhi hospital.

"Many times today Prime Minister called to ask after papa's condition. Honourable Prime Minister also spoke to the doctors involved in his treatment. Thank you," Mr Paswan junior tweeted in Hindi.

Hours later he tweeted again: "I express my gratitude to respected Home Minister Amit Shah for taking care of my father's health. He himself has not been well for a few days (Mr Shah is recovering from post-Covid complications) but, despite that, thank you for showing affection towards me".

Mr Paswan senior has been admitted for a "routine health check-up" his son said had been delayed because of the workload during the Covid pandemic.

Bihar Assembly elections 2020 are just a few days away. However, due to ill health of Ram Vilas Paswan, Chirag Paswan could not visit Bihar.Against this backdrop, Ram Vilas Paswan's son Chirag Paswan has wrote an emotional letter to the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leaders and workers.

Chirag wrote to the party leaders informing them that no discussion over either seat sharing or the future of the State has been held with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies till date. Chirag added that he had conveyed the same in meetings of the parliamentary board and all party MPs held recently.

The party has already authorised its chief Chirag Paswan to take the decision on Bihar polls and that will be acceptable to everyone.

Bihar has 243 Assembly seats and elections in the state are due and expected in October-November as the tenure of the current Assembly will end by last November this year. Election Commission has not yet taken a final call on poll dates in Bihar.
