The gap between the two doses of the Covishield vaccine has widened as the country faces a shortage of anti-corona vaccines.

The Central government has increased the gap between two doses of Serum Institute of India's COVISHIELD to 12-16 weeks. It has been argued that extending the gap between the first and second doses of Covishield vaccine will be more effective.

In such a situation, those who have taken both doses of Covishield have doubts. Expert doctors have provided comforting information to such individuals. Dr. NK Arora, Chairman, Covid Working Group, who has taken both doses of Covishield said those who have taken the shots within a one or two month gap do not need to worry.

I have also taken both doses of Covishield four weeks apart. "People who are being vaccinated are being monitored by the government," he said.

The AstraZeneca vaccine is being administered in India and the UK. We are also making decisions based on the new information that is coming to the fore. We received new data from the UK last week. New guidelines have been developed based on it. That is why it has been decided to increase the interval between two doses of Covishield to 12 to 16 weeks. This is because the effect of the vaccine increases as the gap is increased, the antibodies increase by 40 to 50 per cent.

“People knew there would be another wave of corona,” Dr. Arora said. But no one imagined that this wave would be so terrible. Behind this second wave is a new variant (B.1.617). It is an RNA virus. That means it will continue to mutate. Meanwhile, regarding the ongoing testing of Bharat Biotech vaccine on children, he said that the results of the test would be available by September. It is also expected that children will be vaccinated by the end of the year.
