Delhi Elections on February 8, Results to be declared on February 11

The Election commission has announced the schedule for the Delhi assembly elections. The elections will be held on February 8 with results to be declared on February 11. A total of 1.46 crore voters can exercise their right to vote. This will be the first election in Delhi since the BJP swept the Lok Sabha polls last year.  The notification for the nominations will be on January 14, while the last date of filing nominations will be January 22. The last date for withdrawal of nominations will be January 24.

The Chief Election Commissioner said, 90,000 policemen will be deployed to ensure polling process is done smoothly.  In a press conference addressed by Sunil Arora it was revealed that the current assembly expires on February 22. A new concept of absentee voters to be introduced in the polls for those who are not able to come to polling stations due to physical constraints. PWDs and Senior citizen above 80 years can either vote in person or through postal ballot.
