"Don't give me pain'': Rajinikanth on protesters forcing him to join politics, inspite ill-health

Superstar Rajnikanth has released statement after, his decision to not enter politcs met with negative response amomg fans. In a letter, addressed to his fans, the Robot star said, "My heartfelt thanks to those who did not participate in the protest, in line with the leadership request. I have already elaborated on the reasons as to why I am not entering politics now. I have announced my decision. I humbly request you all to not conduct such events and force me to enter politics and cause me pain. Yesterday thousands of fans, well-wishers of Rajinikanth gathered in Valluvar Kottam, Chennai and demanded that he should enter politics and reconsider his decision. 

People protested and raised slogans like 'Va Thalaiva Va' (Come leader come) and 'Now or never'.It was 2017 when Rajinikanth had announced his intention to enter politics. Ever since the members of the Rajini Makkal Mandram group had been working on the ground.  Rajinikanth has canceled his plans to enter politics because of deteriorating health as well as the coronavirus pandemic. On December 29, Rajinikanth announced that he will neither launch a party nor take part in the electoral politics.  The announcement came weeks after he promised that his party will contest in the upcoming assembly election in Tamil Nadu and will announce the details about this political plan soon. In a three-page statement he posted on Twitter, Rajinikanth expressed regret and said it pained him to make such an announcement after having said he would contest in the elections and happy to give even his life for the people of Tamil Nadu. “It is with profound regret that I have to say that I will neither be launching my political party nor entering politics. Nobody can understand my pain in making this decision,” he wrote.
