Farmer's protest: Gauahar Khan slams silence of Indian celebs on farmers protests

After American pop star Rihanna extended support to the farmers' protest, Bollywood celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Karan Johar, and Suneil Shetty reacted and supported Centre's farm laws slamming international celebrities and entities for comments on the ongoing farmers' protest in India.

Akshay called for an "amicable resolution" to the ongoing issue. Taking to Twitter, Akshay retweeted MEA's statement and wrote, "Farmers constitute an extremely important part of our country. And the efforts being undertaken to resolve their issues are evident. Let's support an amicable resolution, rather than paying attention to anyone creating differences. #IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda."

Many people slammed Bollywood and cricket personalities on social media for criticizing international support to the ongoing farmers’ protest. Gauahar Khan also tweeted on the celebrity's tweet, in which she mentioned that #BlackLivesMatter was not an Indian issue, yet Indian artists tweeted in support of it. Gauhar Khan tweeted, “#blacklivesmatter ..... oh that was not an Indian matter , but mostly every Indian celebrity tweeted in support . Because obviously All lives should matter ..... but Indian farmers ????? Doesn’t their livelihood matter ?????”

Last year, many Bollywood celebrities, including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Karan Johar, Priyanka Chopra and Tiger Shroff, raised their voice against racial injustice when George Floyd died after being pinned down by a Minneapolis police officer.

Also, "Gauhar Khan's tweet is going viral on social media, with people commenting on it. Apart from Gauhar Khan, Nakul Mehta, Swara Bhaskar, Varun Grover and Irfan Pathan have also tweeted about it. #BlackLivesMatter was an issue related to the US. George Floyd, a 46-year-old Houston resident, was strangled to death by a Minneapolis police offic    er.
