In-Laws chop off 30-year widow's body parts for resisting second marriage

A 30-year-old widow's in-laws in Jaisalmer allegedly chopped off her nose and tongue after she refused to remarry according to their wishes. The incident took place a few days ago. The woman has been admitted to a hospital in Jodhpur for treatment. According to the first information report filed by the victim’s brother, the woman married her first husband six years ago, and a year later, he died. After her husband’s death, husband's family began to force  her to remarry another man from their family, which she refused.

The brother said that on Tuesday afternoon, a few relatives of her first husband  came to her home and attacked her with a sharp weapon. “They chopped off her nose and tongue and also broke her right hand,” the brother said in the FIR. He said the accused also injured his mother  when she tried to save her daughter.SHO Singh said they arrested Janu Khan on Tuesday, and Anwar Khan and Nawab Khan from Jodhpur on Wednesday. The FIR has also named nine more accused persons.
