Delhi Police has arrested 10 people in the Jamia violence on Sunday. Surprisingly, no one is a student of Jamia University. Among those arrested, three are declared crooks and the rest are residents of Jamia and Okhla areas. At the same time, the police said that, however, this does not mean that students have been given a clean chit. Meanwhile, there were protests in Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi on Monday against police action and the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act in many parts of the country. Leaders and social workers were also seen supporting the protest. At some places, these protestes were peaceful, while some places the protest took violent turn.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called these protests sad and disappointing and appealed for peace. The impact of police action against Jamia students and anger against citizenship law was seen from Uttar Pradesh to Kerala and Maharashtra to West Bengal. The opposition united under the leadership of the Congress against the action of the police on the students of Jamia. Apart from Congress, the leaders of four other political parties held a joint press conference and demanded a probe by the Supreme Court judge into the events in the Jamia campus on Sunday evening.
