Panaji, March 23 Goa's business and industry captains have urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take a re-look at his decision to notify the duration of the extended Janata Curfew as a 'paid holiday'.

In a joint representation submitted to the Chief Minister by several business and trade bodies, including the Confederation of Indian Industries, the stakeholders also sought more clarity in the emergency notifications issued by the Goa government in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as moving the pharma sector to the essential services bracket.

After mining and tourism, the pharma sector has a significant footprint in the state's economy with Goa being host to several pharmaceutical clusters.

"The Chief Minister has welcomed the suggestions and assured the Industry bodies that a fresh notification would be issued with suggested inputs and amendments," chairman of the CII Blaise Costabir said in a statement on Monday.

On Sunday, Sawant extended the Janata Curfew period to three more days ending on March 25.
