JEE & NEET Exams 2020: Delay in conducting exams will affect new academic year?

Union Human Resources Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Friday announced that JEE and NEET examinations have been postponed and will now be held in September, keeping in view the safety of students amid COVID-19 pandemic.

The HRD ministry had formed a committee consisting of the Director-General National Testing Agency (NTA) and other experts to review the postponement of the JEE and NEET exams.

What is the date for JEE Main examination?
It will be held between September 1 to 6.

What is the date for JEE advanced examination?
It will be held on September 27. 

What is the date for NEET examination?
It will be held on September 13.

"Keeping in mind the safety of students and to ensure quality education we have decided to postpone JEE and NEET examinations. JEE Main examination will be held between Sept 1-6, JEE Advanced exam will be held on Sept 27 and NEET examination will be held on Sept 13," Nishank tweeted.


When will NTA announce NEET and JEE (Main) results?

The National Testing Agency will announce JEE (Main) results in five days, around September 11, and NEET results in 20 days, by the first week of October.

When will be JEE (Advanced) results announced?

The IITs will announce the results by October 5. Joint counseling for the IITs and NITs will probably begin by October 7 and last for a month.

Will the postponement of the  exams will have any effect on the new academic year?

With the exams getting further delayed till September has now pushed the new academic session to November. The government plans to finish the counselling process for engineering and medical programmes by November 14 latest. Therefore, classes for first year students will only be able to commence around end of November or in the first week of December. The IITs may ask the new batch to join only in December.
