Speaking at the 'Happiness Education Conference' organised by the Delhi government to celebrate the first anniversary of the Happiness Curriculum, Gogoi said youths were unhappy and feel dejected, so having such an initiative was important.

"Happiness is something each one of us wants... I don't know why we can't be permanently happy," he said.

"I was thinking yesterday if we have a happy lot of people in this country, my problem of litigation will be over. There will be no cases, as everybody is happy. Perhaps we should have something like Happiness Classes in the judicial academies also," he said.

The Chief Justice said that without happiness, education can never be complete.

"Education is a broad word. We go to school to learn. But at the end of the day, with all our knowledge, if we are negative and not happy we cannot contribute," Gogoi said adding that this made Happiness Classes important.

He added that the Curriculum should be introduced in schools all over the country.

"There is a serious problem with the younger generation. They are a dejected lot who are unhappy by seeing what is happening around us. It is very important that the curriculum is introduced in schools all over the country."

He said the conference had been a learning experience for him, "and I will try to be happy for the rest of my life".
