West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a statement in which the PM said that people involved in the riots can be identified by clothes. PM Modi said this while addressing an election rally in Jharkhand. Mamta Banerjee said on Tuesday, 'The whole country is burning and these people are talking about the clothes you are wearing. Can you tell me who I am by looking at me and my clothes? '

On Sunday, PM Modi while addressing a rally in Dumka, Jharkhand, said, 'People can be seen on TV who are trying to damage public property while protesting against the amendment law. They can be identified by their clothes.

Accusing the Congress and its allies of indulging in violence on the issue of citizenship amendment law, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the reactions of the opposition have proved that passing this bill was 'thousand percent correct' and those involved in arson should be identified by their clothes. PM Modi said at an election rally, "Congress and its allies are setting fire to the citizenship law but the people of the Northeast have rejected violence."

The Prime Minister said, "The country is watching, people's faith in Modi has become stronger after the Bill was approved by the Parliament".\
