Narendra Modi and other leaders extend their greetings to the nation on Eid al-Adha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his Eid greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. In a tweet PM Modi said, “Eid Mubarak! Greetings on Eid al-Adha. May this day inspire us to create a just, harmonious and inclusive society. May the spirit of brotherhood and compassion be furthered.”President Ram Nath Kovind also greeted people on the eve of Eid al-Adha on Friday evening and asked them to follow social distancing guidelines in view of the coronavirus pandemic while celebrating the festival of Eid.

Narendra Modi also wrote to his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina, greeting the people of her country on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and assuring support for the country's health sector amidst COVID-19 pandemic. Highlighting that the "festival of Eid-ul-Azha which is also celebrated in several parts of India" shows "deep historical and cultural links" between both the countries, Modi said, "We hope that this festival will further enhance the spirit of peace and tolerance in our respective societies and promote fraternal ties between our two countries."Lauding the steps taken by Hasina govt to deal with the COVID crisis, the Prime Minister said he is "confident that Bangladesh will tide over these challenging times."
