New labor code to allow four working days in a week

According to the new labor law, employees are likely to get 3 days off a week in the coming period. The Ministry of Labor and Employment will finalize the rules related to the implementation of four new labor laws this week. Once these laws come into force, a new system in labor policies will be introduced in the country.

The draft is being finalized and after which employees will get the option of working 4 days a week and taking leave for the remaining 3 days. In addition, the ministry will set up an internet portal for registration of unorganized workers.

According to officials, the portal will be ready by June. It will provide information on registration of unorganized workers and the facilities available to them.

Labor workers will be registered through this channel. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had mentioned about such a web portal in her budget speech.

* Companies and employees can decide on this option brought by the central government. According to the new law, the government has decided to increase working hours in 4 days. Employees have to work 12 hours a day. The working week limit is 48 hours. Therefore, if you work for 12 hours, you can work for 4 days and take 3 days off.

* Labor Secretary Apoorva Chandra said the rules of the Labor Act are being finalized and the work is expected to be completed till next week. Labor laws will be enacted as soon as possible, including wage law, industrial law, security, health law, social security law. The Ministry of Labor has planned to implement these 4 laws from April 1.

* Central government employees will soon receive good news. As per the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission, an increase in DA may be announced. Dearness allowance of central employees will be increased by 4%. This will benefit 50 lakh central employees and 61 lakh pensioners. At present, central government employees are getting 17 per cent dearness allowance, which will be increased by 4 per cent to 21 per cent.
