Nikhil Jhaveri: Rs 200cr property owner dies alone

One of the worst fears of any human being is to die alone. Sadly this fear came true in case of Nikhil Jhaveri, who was the proprietor of a plot of land at Nepean Sea Road. On Wednesday, Jhaveri lost his life due to pneumonia at JJ Hospital. He had been hospitalized two years back and was undergoing a treatment for psychiatric and physiological issues. While he was hospitalized no one from his family visited neither any one came when Jhaveri took his last breath. 

He owned a plot of land of the Palm beach school which is now defunct valued Rs 200 crore. He was twice divorced and had a son with his second wife before the two separated in January 2005. In 2009 he was diagnosed with a neurological disease.

After Jhaveri took his last breath on Wednesday his body was sent for autopsy because he had been hospitalized on the orders of a court. But the post-mortem was put on hold as the police couldn't find any friend or relative willing to claim his body. By Thursday evening the police authorities managed to get in touch with his son Ryan, who stays abroad and were informed that he was willing to claim the body. 

As per sources Jhaveri was forced to stay in the hospital for longer than needed. A fight in the court for the 200 crore property between his second wife's son and his first wife Dipti Panchal was going on since 2015. Towards the end of his life Jhaveri who suffered from psychological issues had gone missing since 2013. He was found by Borivali police station and was later sent to a shelter home. In 2017 he was shifted to JJ Hospital from Conwest And Manjula S. Badani Jain Hospital where he stayed from 2014.
