Former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan has criticized the Narendra Modi government's policies. Raghuram Rajan said that instead of building statues of national and religious legends in India, more modern schools and colleges are needed. He has given a detailed commentary on the Indian economy in the article 'How to fix the economy' in the India Today magazine. In this article he has said that Hindu nationalism does not just foment social tensions but also detracts India from its economic growth.

Hindu nationalism is creating tension, those who are in power, have a tendency to want maximum control. The present government is also no exception. Especially as far as the social and political agenda of this government is concerned, Raghuram Rajan has targeted the Modi government. Hindu nationalism not only creates social tension, but it is not in the interest of India in any way. But it does affect India's economic development.
