Sujith Wilson couldn't be rescued alive due to lack of proper plan: Congress MP

Despite the efforts put in by committed manpower, two-year-old Sujith Wilson could not be rescued alive due to "lack of a proper plan", said Jothim, Congress MP from Karur.

The body of the 2-yr-old was recovered from a borewell in the wee hours of Tuesday after a three-day-long struggle. He was brought to Pudur for cremation earlier this morning.

"Government and other authorities extended their help throughout the rescue process. Police, Fire tenders, NDRF were also involved during the rescue process. Some of the rescue forces came in very late because they were not informed on time," said Jothim while speaking to .

"Despite putting a lot of efforts, the child could not be rescued alive due to one or two major glitches and we all are pained. I cannot express in words about the trauma that the family has suffered in the past four days. I cannot even console them because we were unable to give them their son back, alive," she added.

Jothim stated that a lot of efforts were made by committed manpower including the rescue forces, ministers and other authorities, but due to lack of a proper plan, the child couldn't be rescued alive.

"We had committed manpower but the problem is that we did not have a very systematic plan layout. We couldn't make a decision on time as well," said Jothim.

She further stated that people across the country had prayed for Sujith's safe rescue. She expressed her pain and asserted that everyone is equally responsible for the rescue operation including her.

"Now we have to think that how should such incidents be prevented in future. We have to develop a system for the same," she added.

The Principal Secretary of Transport Department J Radhakrishnan had earlier said that Sujith's body was in a highly decomposed state inside the borewell.
