Former Intel's Director Avtar Saini Killed in Tragic Accident in Navi Mumbai

A 58-year-old cyclist tragically lost his life after being struck by a taxi near a traffic signal along the Palm Beach road on Wednesday morning. The cyclist, identified as Avtar Saini, was en route from Chembur to Kharghar at the time of the incident.

Saini was cycling in a group early Wednesday when the accident occurred. According to police, the incident occurred around 6:30 am as Saini was cycling towards Belapur and reached a traffic signal at sector 50 in Nerul. "The victim sustained injuries to the back of his body and head," informed PSI Ganesh Jadhav, the investigative officer from NRI Coastal Police station, noting that Saini was alone when struck by the taxi.

"They were part of a small group cycling from Chembur to Kharghar. Three to four other cyclists were approximately 2 km behind Saini," added Jadhav. Subsequently, a case of rash driving was registered against the taxi driver at NRI Coastal Police station, leading to his arrest.
