New Delhi, Sep 2 Twelve rowers will attend the national camp for men at the Army Rowing Node in Pune from October 1 to January 31 while complying with the COVID-19 protocols, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) said on Wednesday.

"This decision to commence the camp has been taken to ensure that athletes who can still qualify for the [postponed 2020] Olympics, can begin training," said SAI in a statement.

"The athletes, coaches and support staff joining Army Rowing Node, Pune, will be given SAI's mandatory COVID-19 test upon arrival at the camp and resume training after a 14-day quarantine. The COVID-19 guidelines of the Government of India, the state government, and the SAI SoP (Standard Operating Procedure) will be adhered to strictly," it said.

As the unlock process is underway in a staggered manner, sports federations have gradually started organising camps etc.

The men's national camp for wrestlers is set to begin on September 15 in Sonepat, Haryana. So far, eight wrestlers have reached the venue and are complying with the COVID-19 protocols. "We have been waiting for it for so long. The federation is very happy. Hopefully, the women's camp would also start soon," a Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) official told .

Rowers approved for the national camp:
