MacKenzie Scott, the billionaire former wife of Amazon co-founder Jeff Bezos, has married a Seattle teacher Dan Jewett. Scott's new husband is a teacher at a private school where her children are studying.

Scott, whose net worth is estimated at around USD 53 billion, divorced Jeff Bezos in 2019 after 25 years of marriage.

Dan Jewett, 50, teaches science at the private Seattle Lakeside School. Scott is yet to reveal when did she marry Jewett.

Jeff Bezos said in a statement via an Amazon spokesman: "Dan is such a great guy, and I am happy and excited for the both of them".

Scott and Jewett announced their marriage publicly on Saturday in a post on the Giving Pledge. It is to be nted that Giving Pledge is a site where super-rich people vow to dedicate their wealth to others.

Jewett posted on Giving Pledge that he was joining Scott's 'commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others'. "It is strange to be writing a letter indicating I plan to give away the majority of my wealth during my lifetime, as I have never sought to gather the kind of wealth required to feel like saying such a thing would have particular meaning," Jewett wrote.

"I have been a teacher for the majority of my life, as well as a grateful student of the generosity of those around me. This has meant doing my best to follow their example by passing on resources of all kinds - from time, to energy, to material possessions - when I have had them to give

And now, in a stroke of happy coincidence, I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know - and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others," he added.

Scott is one of the world's wealthiest women. She is estimated to have a current net worth of around $53 billion, following her high-profile split from Bezos in 2019.

Scott has since devoted her time - and billions of dollars - to charitable initiatives in support of women-led charities and food banks.

Most notably, Insider reported in December last year that Scott had given away nearly $4.2 billion from her fortune to 384 organizations across the US within just four months, ranging from food banks to emergency relief funds.
