Indian T20 team heads into a new era under Rahul Dravid & Rohit Sharma. New coach is keen to stamp his authority and bring about massive changes a the Men in Blue eye a comeback from their 20221 T20 World Cup debacle.

The former Indian captain has created a 5 point template to create winning unit for 2022 T20 World Cup.

India have been guilty of being “timid” and “ODI-like” cricket in T20Is, something that was witnessed during their games at the recently concluded T20 World Cup. Rahul Dravid wants to assert confidence and faith in the players to take risks and play dynamic cricket, in what is a relentless format. The Indian coach wants his players to play a fearless band of cricket.

Rahul Dravid has already showcased his hands-on approach, individually contacting every single player to ask them about their availability and whether they needed rest. The Indian team has played relentless cricket since June, with many players playing across all formats without much break. Dravid is keen to address the issue especially with the bio-bubble environment in place, and the likes of Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been afforded rest for the India vs New Zealand. The workload of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is also being managed leaving no room for mental or physical fatigue.

India have struggled to define the roles of some players in the playing XI, with many being given less than a handful chance to make their mark. However, going forward, Rahul Dravid is keen to plug all holes in the team and maximise what he has at his disposal.Rohit Sharma addressed the same during the press conference, saying, “Template is a very important one and we need to set it right. There are holes in every team but you try and maximise what you have. I’m not going to say that we’re going to follow a certain team’s template. We have to create our own template, see what’s best and right for the team. We strictly want to assign roles that we want them to do because at the end of the day what they do here matters.”

Rahul Dravid was always a team player during his playing days, and he expects the same from his team now that he dons his coaching hat. Such values have been imbibed in the Indian U-19 and A teams during his tenure, and there is an expectation for the same from the senior team. KL Rahul, who has worked under Dravid for a long time, said before the India vs New Zealand series that Dravid wants the squad to put the team above themselves.
