India notched up their second win of T20 World Cup 2021 as they beat Scotland by 8 wickets in Dubai International Stadium.

The Indians needed to win big in order to boost their run rate. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came out firing on all cylinders. The pair smashed 70 runs from five overs.

After Ravindra Jadeja (3/15), adjudged player of the match, led a splendid bowling show in skittling out Scotland for 85, India chased down the target with 81 balls to spare on a day where everything went their way, right from winning the toss. The win means that India has a higher net run rate than Afghanistan and New Zealand.

After an indifferent start to the tournament with defeats to Pakistan and New Zealand, India's fate was no longer in their own hands. However, they did give themselves the best possible chance should New Zealand slip against Afghanistan, by winning by big margins against Afghanistan and Scotland.

Afghanistan's defeat to India have shaved off a massive chunk of their net run rate and of the three teams, they are most precariously placed. India's net run rate is the best among the three teams in contention from Group 2.

Should Afghanistan beat New Zealand by 10 runs, all India need to do is restrict Namibia within two runs of their total or chase down with a ball to spare.

If Afghanistan chase down the target set by New Zealand with an over to spare, all India need is a win by any margin. (Assuming teams batting first score 160 runs)

In case there is a net run rate tie between India and Afghanistan, India will go through by virtue of beating them in the Super 12 fixture.

India play their final game on Monday after the Afghanistan-New Zealand clash and will have the advantage of knowing the exact equation, if Afghanistan win on Sunday.

After an indifferent start to the tournament with defeats to Pakistan and New Zealand, India's fate was no longer in their own hands.
