Did you Know: Vivek Agnihotri directed these films before The Kashmir Files

Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the director of The Kashmir Files has been in the news ever since his recent directorial hit the headlines for various political reasons.

He won the National Film Award for Best Screenplay - Dialogues for The Tashkent Files (2019). Agnihotri started his career with advertorial agencies and moved to producing and directing tele-serials. He debuted in Bollywood with the crime thriller Chocolate (2005) and has directed multiple films since.

The Tashkent Files - Who Killed Shastri? received negative reviews from the critics but became a sleeper box office hit. The film won National Film Award.

Zid was directed by Agnihotri in 2014, the film stars Karanvir Sharma, Mannara Chopra and Shraddha Das in principal roles.

In 2016, Vivek directed, Buddha in a Traffic Jam, the film narrates a tale of inter-meddling of academia with corruption and maoism

He debuted as a director in films with 2005 Chocolate, a remake of the 1995 Hollywood movie, The Usual Suspects. The film was a flop and received negative reviews. His next project, Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, is about an all-Asian football team in the UK that lifts trophies but faces discrimination on the field too fared poorly at the box office.

One of his biggest hits was John Abraham, starrer, was Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. Upon its release on 23 November 2007, the film received negative reviews and was only moderately successful at the box-office and was declared "Average" by Box Office India.The film was premiered in the Tous Les Cinemas du Monde (World Cinema) section of 2007 Cannes Film Festival.
