Aditya was just 23 when he began working on the epic romance of Raj and Simran in his directorial debut Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.

The filmmaker's best friend in the industry is Karan Johar whose banner Dharma along with Yash Raj is one of Bollywood's most prolific movie houses

In the 20 years of his career, he has given just two interviews. The shy director believes in spending time with his set of friends and family.

Aditya has given many blockbusters over the years, the movies that rank among his favourites are Cinema Paradiso, ET, Goodfellas, Awara, Mughal-E-Azam, Deewar, Kabhi Kabhie, Chupke Chupke and Masoom.

Apart from being a great filmmaker, Aditya is also an amazing football player as well. His friend from school and popular filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor swears by his football playing skills.

Not only dialogues but, Aditya also writes amazing poems. Remember Kajol's diary in DDLJ (Aisa pehli baar hua satra aathra saalon mein), SRK's journal in Jab Tak Hai Jaan (Teri aankhon ki namkeen mastiyan) or Aamir Khan's intense nostalgia in Dhoom 3 (Bande hain hum uske humpe kiska zor), they are all by Aditya.

Aditya has assisted his father, late Yash Chopra on the late Sridevi-starrer Chandni and later on a schedule of Deepak Sareen's Aaina.

Aditya has launched many fresh faces in the industry including Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra, Mandira Bedi and Parmeet Sethi.
