Rakhi made her debut in 1997 as Ruhi Sawant. Very few people know but Rakhi's real name is Neeru Bheda. Her first movie was Agnichakra.

Rakhi struggled a lot before coming into the film. Due to poverty at home, she even worked for Rs. 50 a day.

When she was 10-11 years old, she even served food for a daily wage of 50 rupees at Tina Ambani’s wedding.

Rakhi's childhood was spent in a chawl in Mumbai. The women of her house were not allowed to stand on the balcony.

Rakhi had also told about her struggle in Rajiv Khandelwal's chat show. She had said that she often ate leftover food thrown away by her neighbours.

Currently Rakhi Sawant is struggling for her mother. Her mother has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.
