Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai and the news came as a huge shock for not only to the entire country but to the world as well.

Soon after his demise, Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Disha Patani, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan and others took to social media to mourn the actor’s death and offer their condolences to his family.

Very few people know that Sushant Singh Rajput started his career as a background dancer.

He made his television industry debut in 2008 with the Star Plus series Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil.

In 2010, he appeared in a reality show on television.

He got his true identity in the television industry through Ekta Kapoor's series Pavitra Rishta wherein he became an overnight sensation among the audience.

After his successful journey on the small screen in Bollywood, Sushant Singh Rajput turned to Bollywood. He made his Bollywood debut in 2013 with Kai Po Che. The film was a huge success and his acting skills were appreciated by both critics and fans alike.

In 2014, he starred in P.K as Anushka Sharma's boyfriend which also featured Aamir Khan. In 2015, Sushant was seen in the role of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy which opened to mixed reviews upon its release.

Sushant rose to prominence with MS Dhoni biopic which released in 2016. The film was one of the highest grossing films of the year which also earned him a nomination for the Best Actor.

Sushant played the lead role in the film based on the life of former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The film earned him accolades at the box office and Sushant's work in the film was much appreciated.

He later acted in Rabta, Welcome to New York, Kedarnath, Sonichiriya and Chichhore.
