When Jaya Bachchan slapped Amitabh Bachchan's rumoured girlfriend Rekha in public

There was time when Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha seemed inseparable? As per the rumour mills, the two made for a perfect couple and many fans even wanted them to get married.

However, Big B was already married to Jaya Bachchan. Jaya Bachchan was tried everything back then to keep Rekha away from Amitabh.

She was said to have an immense amount of patience when it came to handling her husband, Amitabh's love affair, with Rekha.

She never complained or fell weak in front of the media or her friends regarding this issue. Amitabh Bachchan has never spoken about this anywhere, too.

However, it is rightly said that somewhere there comes a saturation point. And apparently, Jaya Bachchan also lost her patience and felt completely out of control. Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha were about to be cast in Ram Balram by producer Tito Tony. Jaya Bachchan was not happy about it and had some good connections in Bollywood. She recommended producer Tito Tony to cast Zeenat Aman for the film opposite Amitabh Bachchan. However, Rekha couldn't take it when she came to know about being replaced. She knew producer Tito Tony wouldn't help and hence, she directly approached director Vijay Anand to convince him. At that time, Rekha was the most sought after actress, and hence, when a star like Rekha approached a director for work, he could not refuse. However, he asked her to convince producer Tito Tony. Rekha gave the producer an amazing offer that he couldn't refuse by agreeing to do the film for free. Hence, shs was cast and the shooting began, with Zeenat Aman being paired opposite Dharmendra, while Rekha was cast opposite Amitabh just as she wanted. Jaya Bachchan was apparently very angry and tried convincing Big B to reject the movie, but as per reports, he, too, didn't budge. Following this, Jaya Bachchan once paid a visit to the sets and saw Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan speaking in private. She couldn't control her anger and in the heat of the moment, went in front of the two and slapped Rekha. The entire cast and crew of the film was shocked to see this and Amitabh Bachchan didn't wait for the shoot to complete for even a moment.
