Kareena Kapoor, who tied the knot with Saif Ali Khan in 2012.

Kareena shared how she had always been undeterred by people’s comments about her career and marriage. “I was told ‘don’t marry Saif. Your career is over. Nobody wants to work with married women.’

’ And my attitude was like, that’s fine. If you don’t want to work with me, don’t work with me. If I don’t get work, I’ll sit at home and do something else,” she said. While the statement gave a lets-go-with-the-flow chill vibe to some, it didn’t sit well with others.

Commenting on the publication’s Instagram page where a snippet of the interview was posted, a user called Kareena out for her privilege. “Actually she never needed to work because her family is rich”, while another said, “Old boring stories. She married when she was in 30s, not 20s. Look at Alia at 29 married and expecting a child. Not like stars of the 2000s or 90s who when they reach 35, they think of marriage and motherhood.”

In the same conversation, she also reacted to the response Taimur’s pap photos get. “People say, ‘oh I look at Taimur’s pictures and it makes me very happy rally.’ I find it a little weird also. Because I don’t look at other people’s kids and it doesn’t make me happy,” Kareena Kapoor shared.

Kareena and Saif Ali Khan had worked together in LOC Kargil (2003) and Omkara (2006), but it was on the sets of the 2008 film Tashan that they fell in love with each other. Saif made the relationship public the same year when he got Kareena's name in Hindi tattooed on his forearm. After four years of dating, they tied the knot on October 16, 2012.

Kareena, whose latest film Laal Singh Chaddha sees her character Rupa saying no to Laal's (Aamir Khan) marriage proposal, was asked if she also said no to Saif's proposal before agreeing. In response, Kareena told Bollywood Bubble, “Yeah! I don't even remember now. Maybe it was twice or more. But what's important is that finally I said yes.”

Kareena and Saif welcomed their first child-- son Taimur Ali Khan, four years after their marriage in 2016. They welcomed their second child Jehangir Ali Khan in February last year. The couple will celebrate a decade of their marriage today.
