When Karisma Kapoor revealed she was was auctioned by her husband's friend during her honeymoon

Karishma Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan's love story managed to make a lot of headlines and the couple even got engaged. But then things went down the drain between the both and Karishma got married to businessman Sanjay Kapoor in 2003.

Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor were nothing less than Bollywood royalty, and when their engagement was announced on Amitabh Bachchan's 60th birthday, the nation could not keep calm. In fact the bond was so close that Abhishek made his Bollywood debut opposite Kareena Kapoor in Refugee.

It is said that Kareena used to call Abhishek as her brother-in-law on the set. Karisma always came on set to meet Abhishek. Abhishek's first movie was a flop, but their love blossomed.

The two were smitten with each other and after five years of being together, they decided to take their relationship to the next level. Their engagement was announced on Amitabh Bachchan's 60th birthday with great fanfare.

At that time, Karisma had said, "It feels wonderful to be a part of this family." However, this "wonderful" feeling did not last very long after that, and Abhishek and Karisma's engagement was called off, a few months later.

Neither family chose to divulge the reason behind the couple parting ways, and a whole bunch of rumours began doing the rounds. According to a report in Cosmopolitan, it was Karisma's mother Babita who drove a wedge in their relationship. When Abhishek and Karisma were in a relationship, she was already an established actress, while he was still in the process of making a name for himself. Not just this, the Bachchans were going through a rough patch, financially, courtesy a failed production house and rising debts.

It is no secret that Babita single-handedly raised her daughters, Karisma and Kareena, after her separation from Randhir Kapoor. She knew the value of money and wanted to ensure that her daughters never felt the lack of it in their lives.

Karisma and Sunjay tied the knot in September 2003. The marriage took place a short six months after Karisma’s engagement with Abhishek Bachchan. Though it was a love marriage, still Lolo craved for every ounce of affection she deserved in this relationship.Karisma has claimed that since the beginning only, Sanjay was abusive towards her. As per the revelations she has made, not only her husband, but her in-laws also used to torture her.

Talking about the things she has to face in her toxic marriage she even disclosed that, on her honeymoon, her husband's friend auctioned her! Can you believe this? As per her statement, he set her for sale. She didn't spare that and after that problems started rooting between them.

Karisma had also disclosed that even after getting married to her, Sanjay maintained physical relationships with his first wife and was also in a live-in relationship with her.. Allegedly, when Karisma confronted him, he abused her. Revealing the trauma she has to face when she was pregnant, she also told that when her mother-in-law gifted her a dress which she wasn't able to wear because of pregnancy, Sanjay and her mother-in-law physically abused her and slapped her. Their marriage ended in 2012.
