Covid vaccine can provide upto 60 to 94% protection against reinfection, reveals new study

If you have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 and you are vaccinated against Covid-19, there is a 60 to 94 percent chance that you will not become infected again.

This information was given in a study. An analysis of nationwide infection and vaccination data in Denmark was published in the journal PLOS Medicine. The data includes vaccinated people who became infected with the virus between January 2020 and January 2022.

Researchers at the Statens Serum Institut, Denmark, studied more than two million people infected during the alpha, delta and omicron waves.

According to the findings, vaccination of previously infected individuals provided 71 percent protection during the alpha wave of infection, 94 percent during the delta wave, and 60 percent during the omicron wave.

Katrin Finderup Nielsen of the Statens Serum Institut said, "In the study we found that the vaccination proved to be very effective against re-infection of SARS-CoV-2 and this shows the importance of vaccination even for people who have the natural form.
