Kerala Begins International Surfing Fest in Varkala

The Department of Tourism has launched a three-day international surfing festival, showcasing Kerala as an exciting adventure tourism destination.

This marks the debut of the year for hosting an international surfing festival in the country. With a robust turnout expected, the event will see the participation of approximately 100 contestants, comprising both domestic talents and international surfers. Scheduled to culminate on Sunday, it promises to be an exciting and memorable occasion for all involved.

In collaboration with esteemed partners including the International Surfing Association, Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS), DTPC, and Surfing Federation of India, this event sets the stage for an exhilarating experience. Offering substantial rewards, the winning team in the International Cup category will secure a prize purse of D1 lakh, with the runners-up receiving Rs 50,000.

In the Groms Category, the champion will be awarded Rs 15,000, while the victor in the Open Category stands to claim Rs 20,000 in prize money.

Varkala Beach, also referred to as Papanasham Beach, is located in Varkala Town within the Varkala Municipality of the Thiruvananthapuram district in Kerala, India. This scenic beach runs along the Arabian Sea, which is a part of the Indian Ocean.
