Ratan Tata, head of the Tata group, has reminisced about this car on Instagram. On his official Instagram, Ratan Tata has shared a photo taken with an Indica car around 25 years ago. Along with this photo, Ratan Tata has also written an emotional post.

Tata Indica car was first launched by Tata company in 1998. It was the first hatchback car in the country to come with a diesel engine. Tata Indica has been given the tag of being an indigenous car. This is because it was completely designed and developed in the country.

The new year was about to begin. On 30 December 1998, Tata Motors launched its new Tata Indica in the Indian market. This hatchback car was introduced at the time at a price of Rs 2.6 lakh. This car crossed the booking mark of 1 lakh units within a short period of time.

There was a lot of talk about this car in the Indian market even before its launch. Finally the company presented the car to Ratan Tata as expected at that time. The Tata Indica was first introduced at the 1998 Auto Expo, because of the special look and sharp design.

After entering the market, this car faced tough competition from cars like Maruti 800, Maruti Zen at that time. The diesel variant of Tata Indica was known for its excellent mileage. At that time the cost of diesel fuel was also very low.

The diesel version of Tata Indica became famous for its excellent mileage and every new car buyer was attracted towards this car. On 25 years since the launch of this car, Ratan Tata himself shared a special photo on his Instagram account and also wrote an emotional post.

In his post, Ratan Tata says, Twenty-five years ago, the launch of the Tata Indica marked the birth of India's indigenous passenger car industry, which brought back memories and holds a special place in my heart.
