Maharashtra Cabinet minister Dhananjay Munde found himself in the eye of the storm, after, a singer claimed that the NCP leader had maintained physical relations with her on the pretext of marriage and helping to launch her as a singer in Bollywood.

The woman, who had accused Maharashtra Cabinet minister Dhananjay Munde of rape, withdrew her complaint on the ground that “the complaint was being used for political conspiracy by the opposition”.

Dhananjay Munde did not respond after Renu Sharma withdrew her complaint alleging rape. But today, he has given an emotional response to all these issues while interacting with the media.

The blessings of all of you are with me, just like the blessings of a God are with me, you all stood behind me in such a difficult situation. "I can't thank you in words," said Dhananjay Munde.

Since no FIR had been registered in the complaint, which was at an inquiry state, the investigation in the matter ends with the statement that will be recorded on an affidavit.

During his interaction Munde said, "We have reached this point by creating a place in the mind of common man. I have never made a place for myself in life by hurting anyone. Dhananjay Munde said that I have created a place by winning hearts."

An IPS officer said, “The woman has given us a written statement, saying that she wanted to withdraw the complaint as it was being used for political reasons.”

BJP leader Pankaja Munde, who is the Maharashtra Minister Dhananjay Munde’s cousin, on Monday broke her silence on the entire controversy. ’I cannot support this morally, legally and in principle. The issue is sensitive to her as I have also worked as the minister of woman and child welfare. As a relative (of Dhananjay), I look at all those things sensitively,’’ said Pankaja who was defeated by Dhananjay Munde in Parli constituency in the assembly elections held in 2019. "But anything like that can hurt a family and the children in a family,’’ she viewed.

The complaint had been given to the Oshiwara police where Jyotsna Rasam, an ACP, recorded her statement. Munde denied the rape charges but NCP chief Sharad Pawar said it was a grave allegation and they would wait for the inquiry report.
