Election Commission to review national party status of Sharad Pawar

It is being said that the NCP has not followed the terms and conditions for getting the status of a national party. That is why the Election Commission is going to review this. Since the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the NCP has been fighting for national status.

If the status of a party is withdrawn as a national party, that party cannot contest elections in the entire country on a single symbol. They have to contest on different symbols while contesting elections in each state.

Meanwhile, the Central Election Commission reviews political parties every ten years. This review is done to see whether a party is fit to be called a national party or not. This review was done every five years.
