The Central Election Commission has made a big statement about holding the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections together. Commissioner Rajeev Kumar has said that the Election Commission is ready for One Nation, One Election and the government should take the final decision. Therefore Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections are combined.

The Commission does not have the authority to combine Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. There are many issues regarding this. Government should take the final decision on it. Saying that the Central Election Commission is ready for it, Rajiv Kumar has entrusted the decision to the government.

Deputy Chief Minister of the state Devendra Fadnavis has also reacted to this. Fadnavis said that in the country there are elections for 365 days which is 1 year. There are so many elections. Therefore, one nation, one election should be held. They will say that the cost will also be saved

Along with this, Devendra Fadnavis has indicated that the political parties will have to take a stance and go before the people instead of doing politics of convenience. Congress has opposed this.

So why are the elections of not only Maharashtra but also of other states held together. BJP's position is that all elections should be held together. Therefore, Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant said that it is the responsibility of the Election Commission to ensure that there is no doubt about this process.

Experts think that the question will arise whether such a decision will be accepted by those states and whether it will adhere to the constitution. According to Article 83 of the Constitution, the term of the Lok Sabha is 5 years. According to Article 178, the term of the legislatures is also 5 years.

BJP is already promoting the concept of one country, one election. Because BJP's political intention is that by being an effective leader at the national level, it will benefit in state elections as well. So BJP is insisting for One Nation One Election.

In Maharashtra, the gap between Lok Sabha and Assembly elections is less than 6 months. After the 2019 assembly elections, the government of Mahavikas Aghadi was formed in the state. Two and a half years later, the BJP-Shinde group formed the government. In it, Eknath Shinde was made Chief Minister
