In a surprise move on July 2nd NCP leader Ajit Pawar who was also the Maharashtra Leader of Opposition joined the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in Maharashtra and took oath as Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister.

The move by NCP chief Sharad Pawar's nephew Ajit Pawar, which also saw eight other NCP MLAs joining the Shinde-Fadnavis government, came amid efforts by opposition parties to forge unity to take on the BJP in the next year's Lok Sabha polls.

Ajit Pawar said, “You portrayed me as a villain in front of everyone. I still have deep respect for him (Sharad Pawar) ...But you tell me, IAS officers retire at 60...even in politics - BJP leaders retire at 75. You can see the example of LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi...That allows the new generation to rise...You (Sharad Pawar) give us your blessings.

On Ajit Pawar's criticism, Supriya Sule said Disrespect us, but not our father (Sharad Pawar). This fight is against the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) government. BJP is the most corrupt party in the country. The original NCP is with Sharad Pawar and the original symbol is us, adds Sule,

Newly appointed Maharashtra Leader of Opposition and National Congress Party (NCP) leader Jitendra Awhad expressed strong disapproval over the NCP Ajit Pawar faction using Sharad Pawar's photo at their party office saying that all the NCP workers support Sharad Pawar and are upset about Ajit Pawar's move.

Requesting everyone to accept whatever happened, says NCP leader Dhananjay Munde.

During the meeting, Praful Patel addressed the attendees, expressing his support for Ajit Pawar and emphasizing the party's long-term vision. He mentioned the curiosity surrounding his presence on the current stage instead of the other platform. People across the country, especially in Maharashtra, are seeking an answer to this question. However, Praful Patel mentioned that he won't provide an answer today and that the appropriate time for addressing this matter will come in the future.

Sharad Pawar said no need to worry, won't allow anyone to snatch NCP's symbol. Ajit Pawar should have spoken to me if he had any problems.

If he had something on his mind he could have approached me. You Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called the NCP corrupt. So, why have you allied with the NCP now?. Whatever happened to Uddhav Thackeray has been repeated, said Sharad Pawar.

Amol Kolhe, a member of the Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) Lok Sabha, claimed that he was unhappy with the developments in Maharashtra and had considered resigning, but that he had changed his mind after speaking with Sharad Pawar, the party's president.
