Uddhav Thackeray: What will be the name of the new party, what will be the torch symbol?; Uddhav Thackeray's struggle faces his biggest political challenge

The Election Commission's decision recognising Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde's faction as the real Shiv Sena by allotting it the party name and symbol is set to trigger a number of political developments, including a possible cabinet expansion.

The Uddhav Thackeray group will have to seek a new name. The EC had allotted Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) as the party name for Thackeray's group when the name and symbol were in dispute. However, in Friday's order, the commission said the group could use the name and the torch-flame symbol only till the Chinchwad and Kasba by-polls on February 27.

This will mean that the Thackeray group will have to go for another name and symbol for their faction.

The Samata Party has petitioned the EC that the torch flame symbol belonged to it. The torch flame was one of the symbols of the Shiv Sena prior to the party adopting the bow-and-arrow symbol.

After the controversy over the symbol, the torch given to the Thackeray group by the Election Commission and the Shiv Sena name Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray were temporary. In the verdict given yesterday, the Commission has made it clear that this temporary name, symbol Kasba, Chinchwad will be used only till the by-elections are over.

The Thackeray group got the mashala in the temporary dispute.. they also accepted it with enthusiasm.. An Andheri by-election has also been contested on this symbol. The votes they got on this sign were also significant. Therefore, considering this, the Election Commission has fixed the torch symbol for him.

After the name and symbol of the party went away, Uddhav Thackeray again came out of Matoshree today and addressed the Shiv Sainiks. A large number of Shiv Sainiks had gathered outside Matoshree since this morning. Uddhav Thackeray came out with his family and in an open car to address them.
