Baba Kedarnath temple open doors for devotees

According to news agency PTI, as soon as the gates of Kedarnath Dham were opened, the devotees flocked for darshan. Chief Priest of Kedarnath Temple Rawal Bhimashankar Linga Shivacharya opened the doors of Baba Kedarnath Dham. Devotees eager to see Baba Kedarnath chanted.

The doors of Baba Kedarnath Dham were opened at 6.20 am on Tuesday morning. Eight thousand devotees were present here despite the bitter cold. Because the devotees had received such a forewarning. Visiting Kedarnath Dham is a feast for Shiva devotees.

The state government has closed the registration of Kedarnath pilgrims for darshan till the 30th due to the current forecast of snowfall and rain. Since registration is required to visit there, devotees will have to wait for some time.

At present, devotees visiting there have been asked to stay in nearby areas including Rishikesh, Gaurikund, Guptkashi and Sonprayag. Devotees will be able to have darshan of Baba Kedarnath for the next six months when the state government reopens the darshan.

The temple is a stone structure of unknown date, situated on the banks of the Mandakini river, a tributary of the Ganges, at an altitude of 3,583 meters (11,755 ft), 223 km (139 mi) from Rishikesh. It is not certain who and when the original Kedarnath temple was built. The name 'Kedarnath' means 'lord of the field'.
