Dubai hospital waives off 1.5 crore bill of COVID-19 patient

The spread of coronavirus is currently posing a serious challenge to everyone. Also, the lack of a vaccine for the deadly virus and the high cost of treatment in a private hospital, has caused concern among the general public.

In such a scenario a Dubai hospital has waived the bill of Rs 1.5 crore of a COVID-19 patient.

Rajesh, a resident of Telangana, lived in Dubai and was admitted in a Dubai hospital on April 23 after contracting the novel coronavirus.

Rajesh, 42, is undergoing treatment at the hospital for 80 days. Meanwhile, after 80 days of treatment, he was discharged from the hospital. Meanwhile, the bill for this treatment is as high as seven lakh 62 thousand 555 dirhams (about one crore 52 lakh rupees).

Gundeli Narasimha, president of the Gulf Workers Protection Society in Dubai, who had been in touch with Rajesh since the beginning and took him to the hospital, later told Shrimansuth Reddy, an official at the Indian Consulate in Dubai.

Consulate official Harjit Singh also wrote a letter to the concerned hospital administration in Dubai requesting it to waive the bill of this poor patient out of a humanitarian role.

Meanwhile, the follow-up by these senior officers was a success. Also, the hospital in Dubai responded positively and waived off the entire amount of his treatment.

Rajesh and one of his colleagues were then given a free ticket to return home and Rs 10,000 for expenses. Meanwhile, Rajesh reached his hometown on Tuesday night. He was received at the airport by the authorities.
