A young girl having a vast social media following was arrested for rash driving after she posted her videos of speeding on a sports bike without wearing a helmet or face mask.

Sanjana alias Princy Prasad, a resident of Baben village near Bardoli town, was arrested by Umra police and later released on bail.

She had posted the videos on her Instagram handle where she has over one lakh followers.

Sanjana is an undergraduate student in a Bardoli college while her father sells fruits.

Sanjana was booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code including 279 (rash driving on public way), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life).

She is also booked under sections of The Epidemic Diseases Act given the prevailing Covid-19 condition.

Police investigation revealed that she shot the video on March 5 on roads in Vesu and Gaurav Path localities. She later posted the video on her Instagram page and that went viral.

She has shared her videos riding different motorcycles including Royal Enfield on her social media handle in past few years.

Sanjana is a college student studying in her second year. She has 3.27 lakh followers on Instagram.

A police officer in Umra said said, “We started taking action against rash drivers after several videos of such acts have gone viral. These irresponsible acts lead to accidents and could turn fatal.”
