Earlier, the company had launched Jio 5G service in 11 cities. This service will be launched in Lucknow, Trivandrum, Mysore, Nashik, Aurangabad, Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Zirakpur, Kharad and Derabassi in the new year.

You don't need to upgrade SIM card to start Jio's 5G service. You can avail 5G service with old SIM card. The company has not given separate plans for 5G either. You can use 5G service in old plan only.

Ambani stressed on the importance of 5G in bridging the urban rural divide in the country.
