Shraddha Walker Murder Case: Aftab Poonawalla refuses to meet his family in jail

Aftab Poonawala and Shraddha Walker from Mumbai were living in a live-in relationship in Delhi. Aftab brutally murdered Shraddha. He cut her body into 35 pieces and kept them in the fridge and every night at midnight he took one organ each and threw them in the forest.

Aftab Poonawala hasn't met any of his family members or friends till now, not only that, he hasn't even spoken to anyone on phone. He remains absorbed in himself in prison and continues to read books. Jail authorities have given information about this.

According to report, jail officials said that Aftab Poonawala (28) has been in Tihar Jail since November 26, but he has not yet submitted the names of his family or friends to the jail authorities, who can meet him in jail.

Aftab is yet to give the details of the name of the visitor to the jail administration. According to the prison manual, every prisoner is allowed to visit his family members or friends twice a week in the prison's interview room.

Before allowing a prisoner to meet any outsider, the Jail Superintendent submits and verifies a list of family members and friends and only then gives written permission to visit the jail twice a week and to meet the prisoner.

According to the report, a jail official said, We have kept Aftab Poonawala in a cell with two other inmates, where he is under round-the-clock CCTV surveillance. Aftab should not harm himself or be attacked by other inmates.

Our officers, who were monitoring him through CCTV, noticed that he hardly spoke to his fellow inmates. He spends time reading in his cell. Our superintendent informed Aftab about the rules for meeting and using the phone.

Aftab Poonawala's behavior has also surprised the jail authorities as he does not even talk to his family on phone. Not only this, he has withdrawn the bail application, which was filed by his lawyer in the court last week.

Aftab is being closely monitored in jail. Aftab is currently lodged in Tihar Jail and the police fear that he may commit suicide. Due to this, information has come out that Aftab is being closely monitored. Anything near Aftab could cause him harm.

Jail administration has taken this step in view of Aftab's eccentric nature. The police are surprised as Aftab is very calm in the police custody. Two prisoners have been kept in Aftab's custody and they have also been asked to keep an eye on him.

In the interrogation, Aftab said that he had kept Shraddha's pieces in the fridge for about 4 months. Not only this, he came up with the idea that these pieces could be thrown in the forest at his friend's house.

One day while walking on the terrace of his friend's house, he saw the forest of Chhattarpur and felt that he should cast his faith here. After that he took several days to complete this work.

After killing Shraddha, Aftab first chopped off her hand. In the narco test, he said that he threw away the pieces. Police are now going to that location and searching for the killer. The police claimed to have seized many sharp weapons from Aftab's flat.
