UIDAI enables head of family based online address update in Aadhaar, know the process and details

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has issued a new rule regarding Address Updates in Aadhaar. So far, to update the address on the Aadhaar card, one had to provide a personal address proof. But now it is needed.

Now you will be able to update your address instantly by submitting the Aadhaar card of the main person in your family as proof. UIDAI has recently provided the information in this regard. But to update the address on your Aadhaar card, that of the head of your family.

The facility of online address update with the help of head of family address in Aadhaar will definitely be useful for the children, husband or wife, parents of the head of the family. Aadhaar card holders who have any supporting docs in their name for address update.

Documents like ration card, mark sheet, marriage certificate, passport etc. can be submitted to update Aadhaar with the help of address of head of family on Aadhaar. But it must mention your relationship with the head of the family. If the reference to the relationship is also fulfilled.

This facility will be very beneficial for those working in different cities. Also any person above 18 years can become head of household and share his address for his family in this process

To avail online facility go to 'My Aadhaar' portal (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in) and select online address update option. After that the applicant has to mention the Aadhaar number of the head of the family. Any information other than Aadhaar number will not appear here.

After the verification of the head of the family, the applicant has to upload a document showing the proof of relationship with the head of the family like ration card etc. A fee of Rs.50 is charged for this. After payment you will receive a request number.
