PM Narendra Modi leaves Delhi after 83 days, for aerial survey of Cyclone Amphan damage

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to West Bengal and Odisha today to take stock of the situation in the wake of cyclone Amphan and conduct aerial surveys.

Cyclone Amphan has killed at least 72 people in West Bengal. In Kolkata alone, 19 people have died. As a result, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had requested the Prime Minister to come and conduct an aerial inspection.

On Thursday, Modi had announced that he would inspect the damaged area. According to reports, Modi has already commenced for his Bengal journey.

Prime Minister Modi will leave Delhi after 83 days due to the coronavirus crisis due to the imposed nationwide lockdown.

Modi will arrive at Dumdum Airport at 10.45 am today. After that he will leave for Bashirghat at 10.50 am. After this, Modi will inspect the area affected by Amphan along with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at 11.20 am.

Modi had visited Prayagraj and Chitrakoot on February 29.

Cyclone Amphan has wreaked havoc in West Bengal, damaging thousands of homes. Six lakh people have been evacuated. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee informed about the damage caused by Amphan through a press conference.

A meeting between Modi and Mamata Banerjee will be held after inspecting the damaged area. After this, Modi will leave for Odisha at 1.30 pm.

72 people have died in the state. I had never seen such destruction before. The Prime Minister should come to West Bengal and see for himself, 'he appealed. Give Rs 2.5 lakh to the families of those who died due to the destructive cyclone.

Immediately after this, Modi tweeted that he was coming. ‘Amphan saw scenes of the situation created in West Bengal. During this period, the whole country is with West Bengal. We pray for improvement in the situation in the state.
